Taj Cochin International Airport: A New Jewel in Kerala’s Hospitality Landscape, Designed by Inodes
The Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality brand, has unveiled the Taj Cochin International Airport, a spectacular blend of Kerala's rich cultural heritage and modern design. Inaugurated by Shri Pinarayi Vijayan, the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Kerala, the new luxury property marks a significant milestone for both IHCL and the state’s tourism sector. One of the most exciting aspects of the Taj Cochin International Airport is its design. It is not just a hotel but a seamless blend of contemporary aesthetics and the vibrant traditions of Kerala. The hotel was meticulously crafted by Inodes, a leading design firm renowned for its innovative approach to architecture and interiors. Inodes played a pivotal role in shaping the hotel's ambiance, integrating the essence of Cochin’s heritage with a fresh, modern touch, creating an inviting space that perfectly suits the needs of both business and leisure travellers.
Celebrating Cochin’s Growth and Kerala’s Hospitality Legacy
The Taj Cochin International Airport is a significant addition to IHCL’s growing portfolio in Kerala, now encompassing 19 hotels, with three more in the pipeline. Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and CEO of IHCL, highlighted that Cochin's economic importance has made it one of the most strategic cities in Southern India. This hotel is strategically positioned in the city's emerging micro-market, ensuring easy access to key leisure destinations along the Malabar Coast, including the famed backwaters, spice markets, and historical architectural gems.
A Design Masterpiece by Inodes
The design of the Taj Cochin International Airport is a true testament to the vision of Inodes, which specializes in blending global luxury design trends with local cultural elements. The 111-key hotel showcases Kerala’s artistic heritage, from the intricate wooden carvings to the use of natural materials like teak and coir. The contemporary elements, such as sleek glass facades and open spaces, are balanced with traditional touches, creating a calming atmosphere that reflects both the vibrancy of the region and the elegance of modern luxury.
Cochin: The Gateway to Kerala
Cochin, also known as Kochi, is a bustling port city along the Malabar Coast, renowned for its colonial architecture, spice markets, and serene backwaters. The city is one of the most sought-after travel destinations in India, combining rich history with a modern, cosmopolitan atmosphere. With the opening of Taj Cochin International Airport, Cochin's appeal as a key business and leisure hub continues to grow, further cementing its place as a major player in Southern India’s travel landscape.
